We had a lot planned for our second-to-last day of vacation together. First, we wanted to visit the city center of Adelaide, and then head to the outlet center for some shopping.
After checking out this morning, we headed to the 'Anzac Hill' viewpoint in the center of Alice Springs. We parked the rental car for free in the adjacent parking lot and set out to climb the hill, already sweating.
We talked for a while last night until our eyes started to close, or at least one of us. Somehow I couldn't find peace and had trouble falling asleep.
The alarm went off very early so we could make the most of the day, especially for the long journey ahead. We were in the car bright and early. Our first stop, however, was at a gas station to make sure we had a full tank before driving into the desert.
Today we woke up early again, but not to drive the next section of our route. Instead, we needed to catch our flight to the Red Centre on time. Fortunately, I was feeling better, so after packing everything in the car and finishing up, we could make our way to the airport.
This morning we hit the road early because we still had a few hundred kilometers to drive today. We had a lot to do in Adelaide and needed to find a free campsite for the night. So off we went.
This morning we didn't dawdle for long and set off quickly. We had already looked for campsites for today last night, and since we were allowed to use the hostel kitchen, breakfast was also taken care of quickly.
Today we didn't really get far. It took us over 6 hours to cover just 87km. That's an average of about 13km/h.
Today we shared the writing duties again. After checking out, we drove to a rainforest trail just behind Apollo Bay. It wasn't very long, but was more impressive than the paid tour at Otway Fly Treetop yesterday. We took a lot of photos and had our picture taken several times too.
