When I woke up in the morning after a hot night, the sun was already shining and the clouds had mostly disappeared. The night was hot because I'd set the heater too high and was too lazy to turn it down during the night.
A small complaint before I begin: I'm writing this article for the second time now. The first time, I wrote it offline in the WordPress app. When I went online to finish it, the app updated all entries and overwrote my post. This is the second time I've lost several hours of work. I've reported it to WordPress again and hope they'll fix this bug soon. It's incredibly frustrating and annoying. But now to the actual post.
After a stormy night on Wednesday, we decided to explore the beach that the campsite owner had recommended. I was really excited to finally visit a New Zealand beach.
In the morning, I decided to check out the hot springs in Taupo and maybe go for a swim. According to the tourist information center and several websites, there were supposed to be two springs in Taupo.
Since it was quite a cold night, I decided to get up early and head to the lake. I managed to capture some really beautiful shots there.
I've spent the last two and a half days in Auckland. The plan was to use this time to fight off the inevitable jet lag. Thanks to getting some good sleep on the flights and quickly adapting to the new day/night rhythm (11 hours ahead of Germany), I didn't have any major problems. I only had a small energy dip on the afternoon after arrival, but I sometimes get those at home too, usually after a heavy lunch.
On Sunday, I drove from Auckland to Rotorua, where I wanted to check out the hot springs and ride down a mountain in a type of luge cart. As I traveled, the route became increasingly curvy and steep. I took a break at a beautiful, empty parking area high up. I only enjoyed the panoramic view over the vast plain for a few minutes before a bus and a van pulled up next to me.
Today, as promised, I'll tell you about my misadventure trying to get to the car rental place in Auckland by bus. When I left the hostel in the morning and headed toward the bus stop, I discovered there wasn't actually a stop there. I then walked down the street in the direction of travel, hoping to reach the next stop before the bus. Unfortunately, my hope was in vain - the bus zoomed past when I was just 50 meters away from the stop.
Hi everyone! Today I want to share my experience of the 36-hour journey to New Zealand. We hit some traffic on the way to Hamburg Airport, which had me a bit worried, but fortunately it wasn't too bad - we still had 30 minutes to spare before I needed to go through security.
