There's a lot to report today. The day was packed with events and things to do because my dear Steffi finally arrived and my vacation officially began.
Today I'd like to start telling you about an amazing month filled with many experiences, fun, spontaneous (and rather expensive) ideas, and a minor cold.
Good morning! This time I'll try to keep it brief. There's not too much to tell about January either. Just a few nice little experiences that made the month fly by quickly.
As promised last time, here's finally my report about New Year's Eve, where I witnessed what was probably the world's largest New Year's celebration.
Unfortunately, I didn't get much chance to write in December. I'd like to finally catch up on that today.
Just a short message from me today. I want to briefly tell you about my Christmas Eve here in Sydney.
Currently in Sydney, there's at least one fireworks display every weekend—usually several, often happening simultaneously across different parts of the city. One of these takes place every Saturday at 9 PM in Darling Harbour, just a 15-minute walk from my apartment. On Saturday, November 24th, I was heading there again to practice taking photos for New Year's Eve. When I arrived, there were already many people gathered, even though the fireworks were still hours away.
A few weeks ago, I decided to go to Manly with some friends from the hostel. Manly is a suburb of Sydney located in the northeast that directly borders the sea and has many beaches, not only facing the open ocean but also toward the harbor. We were eager to visit Manly's most famous beach and walk through the shark tunnel at the SEA LIFE Aquarium Manly.
Hello everyone! This time I'd like to tell you about my stay at the YHA Railway Square and some of the issues I experienced there. On my second arrival in Sydney, I had better luck with the hostel I had chosen. I selected the YHA Railway Square for two main reasons. First, it's part of the Australian Youth Hostel Association, which means I get a nice discount as a member, and you can expect a certain minimum level of quality. Second, they offer the unique opportunity to stay either in a railway carriage or in the main building. This hostel even has an outdoor pool, which I unfortunately never used—either the weather wasn't great or I was busy doing other things.
